Quick start

Welcome to our docs - here you'll find guides and tutorials on how to use the Stride calculation and documentation platform.

Welcome!

Stride is a new platform for documenting engineering calculations. It's designed for engineers, scientists, and anyone who needs to perform, document, communicate, and periodically revise complex calculations.

Getting started

Head over to our website to download the app, you can sign up for a free account either on the website or in the app. The installation should be quick and Stride should start automatically right after that!

Please note that Stride only supports Windows 10 and Windows 11 at the moment. If you are using a different platform and want to use/purchase Stride, please let us know!.

Projects and markdown files

The basic program structure is composed of projects and markdown files. Each project represents any collection of related calculations. For example, a structural engineering company may have a project for each building.

Click New Project, navigate to where you want the new project/folder to be created. Then click Create.

Then click New File to create a new calculation file.

You can only create files within the project folder.

Using the editor

At its core, Stride is a text editor. If you've used Word, Notion, Google Docs, or a code editor, you'll feel right at home.

Use the key / beside your right shift key to open the block picker. You can then select the block you want to insert using the arrow keys, or by typing the name of the block. Press Enter to insert the block.

After writing some text, you can highlight it by clicking and dragging your mouse, and then you can use the formatting toolbar to change the text style.

Doing calculations

Again, use the / key (or type our markdown shortcut of $$ with a space) to insert a math block. The math block is a full featured math input and calculator that allows for clear, dynamic, and easy calculations. The left side of the math block is the input, and the right side is the result.

Saving your work

After you're done with your edits, make sure to save your work. Use the file menu or ctrl + s to save your work. Unsaved changes will be marked with a circle beside the file name on the top bar.

Join the community

As we continue developing the platform, we'd love your thoughts and input! Here are a couple of ways to connect with us:
