Markdown

A plain-text format that forms the basis for Stride calculation documents.

Philosophy

A common issue that plagues non-software engineering firms is the file format that they use to store their technical work. It's often proprietary and has many restrictions with regards to ownership and access. Read more about the issues and our perspective on it on our blog post:

Don't let structural design software take your intellectual property hostage.

In Stride

Stride uses Markdown as its base file format while offering a WYSIWYG (think Microsoft Word instead of Notepad) text editing experience. We know that while calculations and technical work are important, the text documentation and rationale behind those equations are just as crucial.

With ownership and access in mind, we operate locally on your device and produce files that are plain text. This means your files are portable, lightweight, and fully yours.

Stride and notepad comparison

Note that we support most, but not all Markdown syntax, if there's something you'd like to see added, let us know!
